about
Mark Stevenson is an Emmy Award–winning creative leader and visual storyteller working across journalism, nonprofit advocacy, and agency production. Based in Croton-on-Hudson, New York, his career has focused on producing clear, credible work in high-stakes environments where accuracy, trust, and execution matter.
Mark is currently Chief Photographer at News 12 Westchester, where he leads a 25-person team of photographers and editors. He oversees daily news coverage, long-form features, and special projects, while remaining closely involved in field production, editing, and review. His role includes setting editorial and technical standards, mentoring staff, and improving workflows to support fast, reliable production across broadcast, digital, and social platforms. His work has been recognized with multiple Emmy Awards, a New York Press Club Award, and honors from the Clio and Effie Awards.
Previously, Mark worked at CBS News as a photographer and editor, contributing to national breaking news and feature coverage under tight deadlines and high editorial standards.
Earlier in his career, Mark founded Uprising story+strategy=brand, a boutique creative studio focused on mission-driven work. Through Uprising, he directed campaigns and films for organizations including NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness), Mothers in Charge, and House of Heroes. His short film series for NAMI received national recognition, earning multiple Effie and Clio Awards as well as the Jay Chiat Award. The New York Times described the work as “riveting… sincere and intimate,” and HuffPost wrote that the films “shook me to my core.”
Mark began his career in the agency world at Signature Advertising, where he served as Digital Creative Director and built the firm’s video division. That experience shaped his approach to aligning creative work with strategy, brand, and delivery, a foundation that continues to inform his work in nonprofit and news environments.
In addition to his professional work, Mark has long been involved in stories addressing underreported issues, including public health and community-based advocacy. He also has a longstanding commitment to animal welfare. His family has always adopted rescue dogs and currently shares their home with three.
Whether working in a newsroom, directing a campaign, or supporting a team through production and review, Mark approaches storytelling as a practical discipline grounded in clarity, responsibility, and craft.

Diane King Hall
Anchor and correspondent CBS News
Mark's eye for composition is virtually unmatched. He can see a shot, and take it in a split second that serves the subject being covered. His ability to compose cinematography is equally matched by his professorial instinct for the explanatory, and story-telling is a gift for him.
